Common shoulder conditions
Rotator cuff tearsPain, weakness and loss of function involving the rotator cuff tendons.
Shoulder arthritisCartilage loss that may cause pain, stiffness and reduced motion.
Instability & labral injuryDislocation, subluxation or labral damage affecting shoulder stability.
Biceps & impingement problemsSelected tendon and space-related conditions that may respond to non-operative or surgical care.
Non-operative care
Many shoulder problems are initially treated without surgery. Options may include activity modification, physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medication when appropriate, injections or selected orthobiologic strategies.
When surgery is considered
Surgery may be discussed when symptoms remain limiting despite appropriate non-operative care, when a traumatic injury is unlikely to heal adequately on its own, or when structural damage and patient goals support surgical treatment.
Shoulder procedures
- Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair
- Labral and instability procedures
- Biceps procedures
- Selected minimally invasive shoulder arthroscopy
- Anatomic shoulder replacement
- Reverse shoulder replacement
The appropriate treatment depends on the diagnosis, imaging, age, activity level, tissue quality and individual goals.
